Historic Lynchburg Spicy Marinaded Shrimp

Ingredients
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 to 1½ tablespoons honey or you can use brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Historic Lynchburg Whiskey Bay Seafood Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes or more as desired for a spicier marinade
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Historic Lynchburg Jalapeño or Habanero Hot Sauce depending on what heat level and flavor profile preference you prefer.
  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined

Instructions
  • Whisk together the olive oil, honey, garlic, parsley, Whiskey Bay Seasoning, Jalapeño or Habanero Hot Sauce, lime zest, red pepper flakes and salt and pepper in a small bowl. Reserve a few tablespoons now if you'd like to use some as a finishing sauce.
  • Place the shrimp in a large zip-lock bag and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag and refrigerate 15 to 30 minutes before cooking

Notes:
Reserve 2 or 3 tablespoons of your marinade before marinating the shrimp to use as a glaze or finishing sauce.
Finish the Shrimp: Brush on any reserved shrimp marinade as a finishing sauce. Also, squeeze on a bit of fresh lime juice for an extra pop of fresh citrus.
Serving: Serve as an appetizer or serve over white rice mixed with finely diced sweet red pepper and thinly sliced green onion and garnish with a fresh sprig of cilantro or parsley
